Job Description:
- Legislative Projects — This involves assisting the Legislative Staff with projects ranging from helping encourage other Members of Congress to co-sponsor legislation to assisting drafting documents that could be used in floor statements or legislation. This work varies greatly from internship to internship, depending on what issues are before Congress, and what issue the Senator is working on.
- Educational Pursuits — Interns can attend briefings, lectures, committee hearings as well as observe what transpires on the Senate floor. We recognize that education is the most important aspect of internships on Capitol Hill.
- Legislative Correspondence — This involves occasionally researching and helping Senator Sanders draft responses to constituent letters on all the various issues important in Vermont and before Congress.
- Office Work —This includes sorting mail, data entry for constituent letters, and other constituent-related work.
