Bernie met with VPIRG canvassers to discuss U.S. environmental and energy policy. VPIRG canvassers have knocked on tens of thousands of doors in Vermont this summer.

Bernie held a press conference in St. Albans with Franklin County leaders and young people to announce federal funds he secured for two after school programs in the region. One is for the Common Ground Teen Center in St. Albans and the other is for the Highgate Elementary School.

Bernie was joined by by doctors and Lamoille County community leaders, to announce that Community Health Services of the Lamoille Valley, based in Morrisville, is now a full partner in a nationwide program that provides basic medical care, dental services, and low-cost prescription drugs. Community Health Services of the Lamoille Valley was awarded $487,500 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to make it the seventh Federally Qualified Health Center in Vermont.
