Reports on Sanders Filibuster
Bernie Sanders' short speech
Just 12 hours after Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, wrapped up his marathon speech on the Senate floor in Washington D.C., he was strolling in a hangar in South Burlington to talk with some of the families awaiting the arrival of their soldiers who served in Afghanistan.
After the 132 soldiers arrived, hugged kids, spouses and friends, they were called for one final formation and an official welcome home.
Adjutant General Michael Dubie thanked them. Gov. Jim Douglas said a few words, and then Sanders came to the microphone.
"Don't worry this isn't a day for long speeches," Sanders said in a slightly hoarse voice. "Great job and welcome home."
