Strolling of the Heifers Lots of cheering and mooing could be heard Saturday in Brattleboro, Vermont, at the annual Strolling of the Heifers festival. Sen. Electric Co-op Grant The Vermont Electric Cooperative is getting a $2.1 million grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help pay for cleanup and repairs following severe weather last December. The grant was announced Friday by Sens. Patrick Leahy and Sanders and Rep. Peter Welch, AP reported. LINK

G7 Summit Protests Police responded with pepper spray when a group of marchers tried to break through their cordon; scuffles first broke out as the demonstrators, some throwing bottles, faced off with riot police at the G7 Summit in Germany. Putin Urges Western Pressure for Peace in Ukraine President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia called on the United States and Europe on Saturday to pressure the Ukrainian government to comply with a cease-fire accord, saying that Russia would do what it could to influence separatists in the eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk but held no sway in Kiev, the capital, The New York Times reported.
