Budget Conference Opens

Vermont Chorus Concert
Sen. Sanders brought together school choruses on Oct. 26 from around the state for a wonderful concert. “I believe that this concert will give these Vermont students some deserved recognition, enable the young people to learn from each other, and will allow all of us to enjoy some wonderful performances,” Sanders said. It was a great evening with some 400 Vermonters coming out to hear some of Vermont’s finest young musicians.

Defund Obamacare: Thousands Will Die
“How many people will die if the Affordable Care Act is repealed?” Sen. Bernie Sanders asked at a hearing he chaired on what would happen if Obamacare is repealed. The hearing came on the 10th day of a government shutdown forced by House Republicans insisting that any deal to reopen the government defund the health care law. The witnesses at the hearing included Sanders’ fellow independent senator, Angus King of Maine, who provided what Sanders called “moving testimony” about his own brush with cancer.
