Ground was broken April 18th, 2011 on an $8.5 million solar installation for the Vermont National Guard. One of the biggest solar power generators in Vermont will produce some 1.45 megawatts of clean solar energy and save taxpayers $224,000 a year in future annual energy costs.
Sen. Bernie Sanders has led the charge in the Senate to defend Social Security against benefit cuts. Sanders joined Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), H.E.L.P. Committee Chairman Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), and Sens. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Ct.) for an event on Capitol Hill with supporters and beneficiaries of Social Security.
