Sen. Bernie Sanders hosted a roundtable discussion of geothermal energy with Assistant U.S. Energy Secretary Cathy Zoi, U.S. Rep. Peter Welch, leading geothermal installers and experts from Vermont, homeowners and others who have installed geothermal systems. The event took place in Burlington City Hall.

Sen. Bernie Sanders made a mid-morning stop at Highgate Elementary School, where he told 70 inquisitive fourth- and sixth-graders about federal grants for energy conservation and after-school and extended summer education programs.
Sen. Sanders hosted the Danish ambassador to the United States on a visit to Vermont. Friis Arne Petersen spoke 200 people in Montpelier. He also appeared at a well-attended meeting with business leaders and to students and faculty at the University of Vermont Medical School and St. Michael’s College.
Sen. Sanders met in his Capitol Hill office with Caleb Brabant of Adamant, Vermont. He attends U-32 high school in Montpelier and was in Washington D.C. participating in the National Youth Leadership Council Program.
