Jim Finger of the Vermont Ambulance Association presented Senator Sanders with an award recognizing his efforts on behalf of first responders in Vermont.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards honor young people in middle level and high school grades for outstanding volunteer service to their communities.
Senator Bernie Sanders met with Vermont's Poetry Out Loud contestant, Audrey Kiely, and her father, Philip Kiely, of Morrisville, Vermont. Created by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation contest that encourages the nation's youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance. The program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage.
Senator Bernie Sanders met with Terry Melton, program coordinator for the Milton Community Youth Coalition, and six teenage volunteers to discuss their alternative spring break trip addressing homelessness in Washington and also to highlight their mission of peer leadership at the coalition.
