Senator Bernie Sanders met with 18 Vermont members of the Community Prevention Partnership, an organization that offers a variety of prevention services to local communities to help address problems and risks associated with: alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs; violence; teen pregnancy; abuse; crime; school dropout; and other related social issues. Included in the meeting were community leaders, teachers, students and law enforcement officers from around the State of Vermont.

Senator Sanders spent the weekend hosting two well attended Town Meetings; Saturday night February 9th at the VFW Hall in Hyde Park, and Sunday morning February 10th at Mt. Mansfield High School in Jericho. The food was good and the discussion lively.
Senator Sanders was honored as the 2008 recipient of the Joe Moakley Award for Outstanding Congressional Service in Support of Low-Income Home Energy Assistance. As a member of the House prior to joining the Senate, Sanders had the pleasure of working with Congressman Moakley on home heating assistance and other issues. Pam Dalley, Vermont Energy Assistance Director, presented the award to Senator Sanders.
Senator Bernie Sanders met with Roger Sublett, President of Union Institute and University, and Richard Hansen, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Vermont College, a satellite school of the Union Institute. The meeting focused on higher education issues in the State of Vermont.
