Good Marks for VA Health Care in Vermont

WASHINGTON, June 9 – Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement today after the release of an audit of VA medical facilities, including one in White River Junction, Vermont:

“In Vermont, 98 percent of veterans get seen within 30 days of making an appointment. That’s a good record – better than the VA national average – but not good enough.

“Legislation that I have introduced with Sen. John McCain would provide additional resources to VA hospitals and clinics across the country so that every veteran in the VA system may get prompt, quality care.  If the VA is unable to provide that prompt care, veterans would have the opportunity to go outside the VA for care.”
