Health Care Town Meeting
Congress returned to Washington this week from the Memorial Day recess
with a focus on health care reform. Before returning to Washington
himself, Sen. Bernie Sanders welcomed health care author T.R. Reid for
a town meeting in Burlington Monday night. Sanders, a member of the
Senate health committee, has introduced the Senate's only single-payer
legislation which would establish a state-administered health care
program. Sanders supports a public option as part of any health care
reform package and continues to call for expanded access to health care
by expanding the community health center program and training more
health care professionals.
