If Senator Bernie Sanders' travels throughout Vermont are a good barometer, worries about the economy are mounting. After meeting with a group of employee owners of the award-winning King Arthur Flour in
Norwich, the senator told The Valley News that the country is "moving into a serious recession" and said Congress should pass a large stimulus package that focuses on improving roads, bridges and other infrastructure and advancing renewable energy. On the same day that saw another eye-popping drop in the stock market, there were reports out of Washington that others in Congress share Sanders belief that, after rushing through a $700 billion Wall Street bailout, a new economic stimulus plan is needed to help ordinary Americans. The topic is sure to be discussed tonight when Sanders appears live on Vermont Public Television's one-hour, call-in program Report from Washington.
Sanders will join host Mark Johnson in the Vermont Public Television studios at Colchester, Vt.
