Sanders Applauds House Vote on the Renaming of the Danville Post Office

WASHINGTON, June 17 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement after the House approved a bill to rename the post office in Danville, Vermont after Thaddeus Stevens.

“I want to applaud Rep. Peter Welch for passing this bill in the House of Representatives.  Renaming the post office in Danville after Thaddeus Stevens will help Vermonters and people throughout the country understand the important legislative battles won in the halls of Congress during the Civil War and Reconstruction-era. As Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Stevens was one of the most powerful members of Congress during that crucial period of American history.”
