Senator Sanders Reacts to President Obama’s Address to Congress

WASHINGTON, February 24 – Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement tonight after President Barak Obama addressed a joint session of Congress:

“I applaud President Obama for recognizing that the solution to the current set of crises we face must be bold action. Now is the time to create millions of jobs rebuilding our infrastructure and moving us away from fossil fuel and dependence on foreign oil and to provide health care and educational opportunities for every American.

“In the midst of all of this, he is right in stating that we must have the courage to cut back on wasteful and unnecessary programs and tax breaks for those people and corporations who do not need them.  This is a critical time in American history that requires bold leadership and I’m glad that the president is providing it.”
