Vermont Veterans' Home Wins $1.5 Million Grant

WASHNGTON, April 17 - The State of Vermont will receive a $1.5 million federal grant for improvements at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Senator Bernie Sanders announced. The grant from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is for safety improvements at the facility. It will pay 65 percent of the expected cost of the first phase of a mold and asbestos removal project. The state has guaranteed the balance of the funding. Sanders is a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs. "The men and women who put their lives on the line for this country deserve the best care we can provide," Sanders said. "This funding will begin to make some desperately needed improvements at the Vermont Veterans Home." The Vermont Veterans' Home, established in 1884, offers a complete range of specialized health care services.
