A Living Wage
In a growing nationwide movement to raise the minimum wage, airport, home care and Wal-Mart workers on Wednesday joined fast-food workers in staging Fight for $15 demonstrations. The campaign wants to double the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour. “The truth is that by putting more money into the pockets of workers in underpaid jobs, we can put more money back into our neighborhoods, strengthen the economy and create more good jobs,” said Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Meanwhile, Sanders appeared Wednesday alongside a Seattle entrepreneur Dan Price, who announced that all of his employees will be paid at least $70,000. He’s lowering his own salary to the same amount. “At a time of massive wealth and income inequality in our country, Mr. Price sets an example that other companies should learn from,” Sanders said.
