An Outrage
"The Supreme Court has opened the floodgates for domination of the political life of this country by a handful of very wealthy folks," Sen. Bernie Sanders told radio host Ed Schultz on Tuesday. "It is an outrage and we have got to fight back as aggressively as we can." The senator was referring to the Supreme Court order on Monday that summarily struck down Montana's ban on corporate political money. The 5-4 ruling made clear that the disastrous 2010 decision in Citizens United applies to state and local elections. Sanders said the ruling underscored the need for a constitutional amendment to undo Citizens United. A separate ruling last week erected elaborate new barriers to participation in elections by public-sector unions.
