Bad Deal
Sen. Bernie Sanders announced on Monday that he will vote against a deficit-reduction deal reached by the White House and congressional Republicans. The agreement slashes programs for working families without asking the wealthiest Americans and the most profitable corporations to pay a nickel more. "This country needs deficit reduction, but we need to do it in a way that is fair and which will result in economic growth and job creation. This proposal does neither and I will oppose it," Sanders said. He announced his decision in a Senate floor speech in which he called provisions in the agreement "grotesque," "unfair" and "immoral."
