Bad Trade Deal
As a result of misguided trade deals of the past, thousands of American factories have been shuttered and good-paying manufacturing jobs in the United States were eliminated as companies moved operations to low-wage nations overseas. Today, however, corporate interests are back in Washington promoting the biggest trade deal of all. The Trans-Pacific Partnership would involve the United States and 11 other Pacific Rim countries. Despite his opposition, Sen. Bernie Sanders told The Wall Street Journal he expects the Senate to clear the way for passage of the agreement. He held out hope, however, that the measure might not clear the House.
