Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is holding a hearing on today entitled “VA Claims Process – A Review of VA’s Transformation Efforts” to examine VA’s actions to address the unacceptable backlog of veterans’ disability claims.

Currently there are nearly 900,000 veterans waiting for their disability claims to be processed. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, 70 percent of claims have been pending longer than the department’s goal of 125 days.
