The Community Health Center of Burlington, in cooperation with Fletcher Allen Hospital and volunteer doctors, will provide free medical visits from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, March 14. “You can walk in the door here this Sunday and get examined by one of the doctors or nurse practitioners. The bottom line is anybody in this community can walk in the door. There will be no cost at all. You can get an examination that many people have delayed for too long,” Sanders told a press conference Monday at the health center. The center also will provide free blood pressure tests and glucose screening; help with applications for state health insurance and prescription drug programs; and introduce the public to services provided at the center, and schedule any needed follow-up appointments. One of eight Federally Qualified Health Centers in Vermont, the Burlington facility provides primary care, dental care, mental health counseling and low-cost prescription drugs for some 13,000 patients in Chittenden County regardless of their ability to pay. To schedule one of the 100 appointments available that day, call 864-6309 by March 12th.
