Historic Obama, Castro Meeting
President Barack Obama and Cuba’s Raul Castro met on Saturday in the first formal meeting of the two country’s leaders in a half century. They met in a conference room in a Panama City convention center as part of an effort to restore ties. Sen. Bernie Sanders applauded the diplomatic breakthrough. “Fifty years of Cold War is enough. I applaud President Obama for turning the page on U.S-Cuba relations, for meeting with Raul Castro and for moving toward full normalized relations with Cuba. This is an approach that is long overdue.”
