Honoring Veterans

Sen. Bernie Sanders is a member of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee.  He has worked to expand access to health care, especially through VA community health clinics.  He won early funding for a program in Vermont that reaches out to service members returning from deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq. He supported the new GI Bill that helps veterans get a good education so they can land good-paying jobs.  He also has three staff members dedicated to helping address veterans' concerns. They helped Ed Drown learn about  his uncle, Harold Drown,  who left his family's farm in Sutton, Vt., to join the Army when he was 18 years old. He was listed as missing in action in 1950 while fighting in Korea.
