Is Burger King Moving to Canada?

Burger King, the fast-food restaurant chain, is in talks to acquire a Canadian coffee-and-doughnut company and set up headquarters in Canada in order to cut its U.S. tax bill. For now, Burger King is based in Miami, where it was founded in 1954. Sen. Bernie Sanders has sharply criticized what he calls “corporate deserters.” The hamburger chain became wealthy because of its American workers, who it pays too little, and American consumers, Sanders said. Interviewed Monday on HuffPost Live, Sanders noted that public pressure caused Walgreens, the Chicago drugstore chain, to back off a similar plan to move its headquarters oversees to evade U.S. taxes.
