Living on Another Planet

Senate leaders next week hope to consider legislation to fight unemployment and create jobs by investing in construction projects like rebuilding crumbling roads and bridges. The measure faces another Republican filibuster like one last week that blocked a bill to help states avoid laying off teachers, police officers, firefighters and other emergency responders. Republicans are "living on another planet, not even recognizing the severity of the crisis, let alone doing anything about it," Sen. Bernie Sanders told Ed Schultz in an interview Monday on MSNBC. Like last week's jobs bill, the new transportation jobs bill would be funded with a surtax on incomes of more than $1 million.
