March Against Monsanto

There were rallies in dozens of cities over the weekend as part of a global protest against Monsanto and the genetically modified food it produces. The demonstrations came after the Senate last Thursday rejected an amendment by Sen. Bernie Sanders that would have made it clear that states may require labels on genetically-modified foods. Interviewed Tuesday on CNN’s “The Lead,” Sanders and reporter Jake Tapper discussed, in Sanders words,  “companies like Monsanto and large food corporations that in many ways would prefer that people not know what is in the food that they produce.” Said Sanders, “They’re very powerful.”
