Netanyahu’s Speech
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted House Speaker John Boehner’s invitation to address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday. Neither Netanyahu nor Boehner checked fist with the White House, which has since raised strong objections to the timing of the speech. The appearance comes at a delicate stage in negotiations by the United States and major allies with Iran over its nuclear program. It also is happening two weeks before closely-contested parliamentary elections in Israel. Sen. Bernie Sanders was the first senator to say he would stay away from Netanyahu’s speech. He talked about why he’s not going to the speech in interviews Monday on CNN and MSNBC.
