Return to Washington

Congress returned from the August recess on Tuesday with health insurance reform clearly the largest item on the agenda.  President Barack Obama prepared to speak before a joint session of Congress on Wednesday regarding efforts in Washington to address the crisis of health care in America today.  Sen. Bernie Sanders was met at the Burlington airport by a group of activists calling on him to continue to fight for a strong health care bill.  One attendee told New England Cable Network that Sanders has been "a champion on this issue for a long time."  Sanders said, "I received hundreds of emails from Vermonters telling me their experiences with healthcare today.  It makes you cry; it does. It's extraordinarily disturbing to see people say their brother died because he went to the doctor too late."
