Sanders Supports Strikers
Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday joined a picket line with FairPoint Communications workers in Keene, New Hampshire. The strikers were among 1,700 workers in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine who went on strike on Friday over the company’s imposition of major cuts in health care and retiree benefits. The workers staff call centers and maintain the telephone network in parts of northern New England. The senator said he will work with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Communications Workers of America in their fight to reach a fair agreement.
