Senate Debates Syria

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee held the first public hearing Tuesday on President Obama’s request for Congress to authorize a military strike against Syria in response to last month's chemical attack outside Damascus. “The use of chemical weapons by the Assad dictatorship is inhumane and a violation of international law,” said Sen. Bernie Sanders. “However, at this point in time, I need to hear more from the president as to why he believes it is in the best interests of the United States to intervene in Syria's bloody and complicated civil war. I look forward to the Senate debate that will be taking place in the very near future.”
