The American People Are Catching On

Without a vote to spare, the Senate has advanced legislation extending expired unemployment benefits. Sen. Bernie Sanders called Tuesday’s 60-37 Senate vote “an important victory.” He said “it makes both moral and economic sense to help people looking for work.” In an interview on Wednesday with radio host Ed Schultz, Sanders discussed the importance of the measure and the remaining obstacles to its passage by Congress. He credited grassroots support for the measure as a reason why even some Republicans may support the bill. “The American people are catching on,” he said.
