The Third Leading Cause of Death in the U.S.

Heart disease and cancer are the two leading causes of death in the United States.  People are often surprised to learn that as many as 400,000 people die each year, however, from preventable medical errors in hospitals. That makes medical mistakes in hospitals the third leading cause of death in this country.  “This is a crisis situation which must be dealt with,” said Sen. Bernie Sanders, chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging. The subcommittee has scheduled a hearing at 10 a.m. Thursday to discuss this enormously important issue with some of the leading experts in the country. The hearing will be livestreamed here.
