Sanders Statement on Yellen Nomination

WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement today on the nomination of Janet Yellen to chair the Federal Reserve:

“I look forward to meeting with Janet Yellen to learn more about her views on a number of important issues.  First, I want to know if she will act boldly and with a fierce sense of urgency to create the millions of jobs that this country desperately needs.  Is she prepared to stand up to the greed and recklessness on Wall Street?  Does she share the views of the Dallas Federal Reserve President and many others who believe we need to break up too-big-to-fail financial institutions?  Does she believe we need to reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act?  Does she agree with Warren Buffett that derivatives are ‘financial weapons of mass destruction?’ ”
